The Brief
A registration microsite with voucher generator and reporting facilities.
The Subtext
This was part of Virgin Drinks attempts to enter the fizzy drinks market and take on CocaCola and PepsiCo.
The Deliverables
A microsite, a simple CMS to update special offers, personalized printable vouchers, daily reports detailing what vouchers had been claimed for the day, and simple sequencer application.
The Solution
This was a pretty bog standard Flash registration microsite, with an interesting voucher creating application built on top. Users who answered a simple multiple choice quiz would be presented with a personalized voucher which they could take to any Virgin shop and redeem for some products. At the end of each day the application would send a list of issued vouchers to the relevant shops.
The Team
6: project manager, two designers, a junior developer, myself, and a copywriter.
My Involvment
I devised the technical solution and lead the technical team.
The Outcome
By the time the project was launched it was clear that big players in the fizzy drinks market were not going to let Virgin Drinks invade their market without a fight, and the client decided to scale down their operations. The microsite worked well for the four months it was online, until the client decided to scrap the project.
