The Brief

Brochure website for a travel agent, with updatable prices from the Galileo system.

The Solution

The technical challenge was to download prices from the Galileo system, convert them to a web-friendly format, and upload them to the site - all this before the days of web services and APIs. After tearing our hair out for days, we came to the conclusion the most cost effective solution involved installing a VB script on one of the clients terminal, dump the data to a floppy disk, send the disk by courier to our office (it was only up the road), and run scripts to fetch, format, and upload the data.

The Team

A designer and myself.

The Outcome

The site worked very well and the solution, although low-tech, was cost effective and run without glitches for months.
