Information Terrorist

The Brief

An e-commerce website and "digital art" piece for a clothing manufacturer.

The Subtext

Vexed Generation wanted to make a statement about modern society as much as they wanted to sell their wares. They were hoping the site would win awards and be mentioned in arts circles.

The Solution

Omniscience came out with the "Information Terrorist" concept - now, that's a name not many people would choose in the XXIst century. Besides your typical e-commerce site, users could win discount vouchers by selecting statements about a variety of topical subjects (GMs, CCTV, etc). If their selection "conformed" with Vexed's views they would be rewarded, if not the text would become increasingly less readable.

The Team

A designer and myself.

My Involvment

The original site was built in DHTML, but it didn't work cross-browser. I retrofitted a Perl version for non supported browsers.

The Outcome

The site was relatively successful, and got talked about in the trade press a fair bit.
