Hiking in Stavros tis Psokas

5th January 2008 14:43 | Categories: Cyprus in Winter, Travel

We drove from occupied Northern Cyprus to the Troodos mountains in the west. Excellent drive, through barren landscapes with classical Turkish music on the radio, like some middle eastern version of Paris, Texas.

We got a room in a tiny village where all the (male) locals meet at the only bar to watch TV, shout, and smoke. Cute, but we were fleeced big time. We did one of the two sign posted hikes in the area, a beginner’s one, and very nice it was as well.

If you are in Cyprus and like hiking the Troodos mountains are well worth a visit.
